A veneer is a thin facing bonded to the front of a tooth. It changes colour, shape, length and small positional flaws in one step, which is why veneers are so often the final piece of a smile makeover.
Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory, resist staining well, and reflect light much like natural enamel. Composite veneers are built up directly in the mouth in a single visit, cost less, and are easier to repair — but they stain over time and do not last as long.
Veneers are not a shortcut around orthodontics. Using them to mask significantly crooked teeth means cutting away far more healthy enamel than is justifiable. Where teeth need moving, we move them first.

Design consultation
We assess your bite, gum line and lip position, and agree the shape and shade you want. Photographs and a digital design make the target concrete.

Preparation
A very thin layer of enamel is removed so the veneer sits flush rather than bulking the tooth outwards. How much depends on the case — sometimes almost none.

Scan and temporaries
A digital scan goes to the laboratory. Temporary veneers protect the teeth and let you live with the proposed shape.

Try-in
The finished veneers are tried before bonding, so shade and shape can be checked in your own mouth, in daylight.

Bonding
Veneers are bonded permanently and the bite is checked and adjusted.

The honest version: If you grind your teeth or want maximum longevity, porcelain is the better investment. Composite is the right call for a smaller budget, a single chipped tooth, or a more conservative first step.
